In my earlier post I had mentioned how writing was expression of my self. After never having written anything close to a poem, I suddenly felt like writing poetry. I believe it was a hint from my subconscious asking me to express my inner self.
I intend to write about my recent interest in poetry in a separate post, but this post is to share what I wrote today.
Empty Bowl
Holding an empty bowl in my hands,
I walked around the world with a lot of demands.
I let people fill whatever they could spare.
Some people filled it with love, and with some, hate is all they could share.
Love brought smiles and hate brought tears to my face.
Until I realised my cup was full in the first place.
God had already filled my bowl to the brim.
With loads of love that I thought I had to win.
I now walked around the world carefully.
Lest I spill my gift and it gets empty.
Alas, I tripped on a stone and spilled half my bowl.
On a bunch of people who I thought would cry foul.
They looked at me with love and helped me up, to my relief.
Even as I looked at my full bowl with disbelief.
It struck me then and I closed my eyes to thank god; for I realised that even if I share in plenty, the bowl never gets empty.
Sooo true!! Love this!
Thank you so much! And thank you for following. You are only the second follower for my blog (I started writing a month ago). Glad to see someone reading what I write.
It’s slow progression with followers right now but stick it out!! More will come 🥰
What a wonderful poem. Your writing creates great imagery. Thank you for sharing your writing.
