Being present (poem)

My work keeps eating my mind.
I’m with my kid who is trying to keep me in his bind.

He won’t be 3 for long and this time is best spent with him.
My mind however is filled with my insecurities to the brim.

I have to empty my mind then.
I focus on my breath, meditate, clean it up in ten.
I look around and my kid has moved on to his play pen.

I should have just focused on what we were doing together.
Rather than meditate to be present with him ten minutes later.

It was the clear; the biggest focus exercise is to always be present.
That’s the only way to realise my life is effervescent.
