To follow or not to follow

This post follows a discussion with my therapist the previous day about my confusion around breaking free from my socio-cultural beliefs, my political affiliations, internal conflicts regarding those affiliations, internal conflicts in deciding what is right action, and so on. As we spoke about varied topics, my therapist recommended I read J.Krishnamurti’s speech when he dissolved the order of the star. I’ve read it before, but I understand it better now. I had to fly out this morning for work, and these words came to my mind as I was waiting for my flight- ‘to follow or not to follow’. I held on to the line and finished writing this on the flight.

To follow or not to follow
Is there a true leader worth following?
Can one person lead everyone?
Is everyone’s path the same?
Is everyone’s mental state the same?
Is everyone the same?
Who is the right leader then?
The only person who knows you is you.
The only person who can guide you is you.
The only place you need to be, is inside you.
There is no one right leader.
There is no one right path.
There is no one right god.
|The true search is within you.
The true leader for you is within you.
The true follower of you is you.
Be your own leader. Be your own follower.
Find your path.
If you have no clue, strive for it.
If it’s too difficult to strive for it, surrender and wait for it.
If you can’t wait for it, just forget about it.
No action is better than action without true understanding.
Not following anyone is better than following the wrong one.
